V8 Powered Mustangs Get Huge Price Hikes For 2025
The 2025 Ford Mustang offers minor updates but significant price changes, with V8 models seeing the steepest increases.
Price Hikes Across the Range
The 2025 Ford Mustang is here, and while its updates are subtle, its pricing changes are anything but. Almost every model in the lineup has seen a price bump, with V8-powered versions hit hardest. The Mustang GT, powered by a 480-horsepower 5.0-liter V8, now starts at $45,560, a $2,700 increase over the 2024 model. Premium versions, like the GT Convertible and GT Premium Fastback, also reflect this hike, priced at $55,580 and $50,080 respectively.
The Dark Horse, Ford’s high-performance Mustang boasting a 500-horsepower engine and track-focused features, is even pricier. The base Dark Horse now costs $63,380, up $2,745 from last year. Its Premium variant sees the sharpest increase at $3,745, starting at $68,375.
Affordable Options Hold Steady
Not all Mustangs have become significantly more expensive. The base EcoBoost Fastback remains a value-friendly option, holding its price steady at $31,290. Models like the EcoBoost Premium Fastback and Convertible saw only minor $100 increases, starting at $37,545 and $43,045, respectively.
For 2025, Ford has added dual-zone climate control as a standard feature across the Mustang lineup. Buyers can also choose from two new paint colors: Wimbledon White, a nod to classic Mustang heritage, and Molten Magenta. However, four shades—Atlas Blue Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic, Yellow Splash Metallic, and Dark Matter Gray—have been retired.
To commemorate the Mustang’s 60th anniversary, Ford has introduced a limited-edition package with distinctive styling. Available exclusively on fastback models with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the package is offered in four colors: Brittany Blue, Wimbledon White, Race Red, and Vapor Blue. Only 1,965 units will be produced, featuring retro-inspired details like rocker panel stripes, special 20-inch wheels, and unique badging.
A Closer Look at the Value
While the price increases may deter some buyers, Ford has aimed to add value with minor enhancements. For those seeking a blend of performance and heritage, the anniversary package and the upgraded standard features could make the 2025 Mustang a compelling choice. However, for muscle car enthusiasts on a budget, the unchanged price of the EcoBoost Fastback might still make it the best bargain in the lineup.
