Shelby 1000

Until recently, 1,000 hp power levels were unheard of and strictly reserved for all-out race cars. It is amazing how modern engine technology has developed to the point where aftermarket manufacturers offer 1,000 hp cars with a warranty! A prime example of this phenomenon is the Shelby 1000 which is marketed at the ultimate Mustang. The new Shelby 1000 package can be applied to any 2015+ S550 GT as long as you can fork out the $169,995 for the conversion! Shelby only plans on producing 50 Shelby 1000s which will make it extremely desirable when the Barrett Jackson auction comes around in 2050. However, there is a catch! Shelby decided to not compromise on any aspect of performance by not conforming to emissions regulations. Therefore, if you are driving a Shelby 1000, it will have to be "on closed courses only."

What powers this 1000hp beast?

The power plant behind this beast is extremely advanced, while maintaining the tried and true front-engine rear wheel drive layout. Shelby completely removed the stock 5.0L Coyote motor in favor of a 5.2L V8. However, this 5.2L V8 is not the same engine as found in the GT350 since it uses a traditional crankshaft design as opposed to a flat-plane crankshaft. The crown jewel of the engine is the massive 4.5L Whipple twin-screw supercharger which shoves over 18psi of boost into the V8 to produce those advertised power figures. The engine is supported by an upgraded fuel system, retuned ECU and transmission to make all of the running gear work in harmony. The end result is a reliable and race-ready Mustang that will put a massive grin on your face everytime you step on the gas.

The complete package

Some aftermarket tuners will sell you a 1000hp car without any supporting modifications to the chassis and suspension. However, Shelby makes sure to give you the complete package by installing a widebody kit, one-off custom wheels, and an amazing suspension package. Furthermore, Shelby installed a vented hood, new rear fascia, and a big brake upgrade.

Shelby heritage

Along with aforementioned features of the Shelby 1000, the heritage behind the brand is priceless. The Shelby brand carries with it generations of race-winning vehicles like the Shelby Cobra and Shelby fastback Mustangs. When you roll into a car show with any Shelby, everyone will recognize that uncompromised performance is your priority.

Keep the kids at home

If the $200,000+ total cost of the Shelby 1000 is beyond your financial limitations, Shelby still has you covered. You can go to any Ford showroom and pick up a GT350 or even wait a few months for the hyped GT500 which will also feature a supercharged 5.2L V8. These options both look amazing and provide serious performance on the track!

And if you do wind up with one of these Shelby beasts, our best advice is to keep the kids at home. If cars were movies, this movie would be rated X for Xtreme brutality.
