A True Boss

Can we all just take a second to appreciate this gorgeous 1970 Mustang Boss 429?  Kar Kraft No. 2403, one of just 500 produced.  This highly original example in pristine condition shows off how much of a true badass this Boss Mustang has always been.

429

The Boss was Ford's answer to Chrysler's 426 Hemi.  Ford began working with Kar Kraft which became the company's in house R&D shop (creator of the GT40) which helped develop and install the 429 engine into the soul of this special edition Mustang.  This example uses a restored and matching 429 CI V8.  The 7.0-liter behemoth is capable of exceeding its factor 375hp rating in full race tune.

T-Handle

Sporting a Hurst T-Handle shifter, the 429 is moved from 0-60 in around 7 seconds through a close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission using a 3.91 Traction-Lok differential.  The Boss 429 is rated to achieve a top speed of 118 mph.

An Iconic Relic

This Boss 429 was estimated to list at auction between $245,000-$265,000.  Aside from the need for minor refreshed mechanical work that included installing a period-correct carburetor and a reproduction export brace, this Mustang is about as close to original as you can get for being almost 50 years old.  This example is offered with a Marti report.  Whoever ends up with this Boss 9 will be one lucky SOB.
