However, if you are among the select few hardcore enthusiasts who desire more than what the 2020 Shelby GT500 has to offer, then Shelby American's 2020 Signature Edition GT500 (or Shelby GT500SE) may fit the bill. The 2020 Shelby GT500SE offers an increased engine output of over 800 horsepower along with several other performance upgrades that are sure to crank up the car’s driving capabilities.
Shelby American’s Signature Edition packages are available for both the 2020 Shelby GT350 and GT500. For the GT500’s SE package, you’ll part with approximately $29,995. Given that the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 starts at $71,495 (before options), you can expect to spend well over $100,000 in total for the upgraded 2020 Shelby GT500SE. According to Shelby American, only 100 Signature Edition models will be built. All of them will receive a Shelby serial number, meaning that they’ll all be registered in the Shelby American Registry.
Made for the Track
The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Signature Edition is a full-on track car, and it makes no apologies about it. It has a wide footprint and sits lower than the stock 2020 GT500 thanks to its exclusive, track-focused front and rear spring setup. It also has stronger axle shafts to handle the increased power and the demands of track racing. Its recalibrated magnetorheological dampers ensure tight control even in the sharpest corners, and its thicker anti-roll bars cancel out body roll almost entirely. The 2020 Shelby GT500SE also adds caster camber plates that make it easy to dial in the exact caster or camber settings you want.
The 2020 Shelby GT500SE’s TORSEN® limited-slip rear axle differential helps to put the power down to the road, and its Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires add plenty of grip to the mix.
More Power, More Performance
Under the hood of the 2020, Shelby GT500SE is the GT500's 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, now massaged to deliver over 800 horsepower when the car is using 93 octane pump gas. Some of the upgrades this engine gets include an exclusive performance supercharger pulley system, a high-volume heat exchanger, a high-volume intercooler, and performance half shafts. The exact horsepower figures haven’t been released yet. The stock 760-hp 2020 Shelby GT500 launches to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and passes the quarter-mile mark in 11.4 seconds at a speed of 132 mph. Without a doubt, the upgraded 2020 Shelby GT500SE is expected to surpass these numbers.
Exterior Upgrades
The 2020 Shelby GT500SE gets the GT500's body kit with its fully functional front splitter and rear diffuser. It also has an exclusive, ventilated carbon-fiber hood with “SHELBY” hood locks that is 30 pounds lighter than the original. This car also gets Shelby stripes and badges, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and a gurney flap rear wing. Options for the 2020 Shelby GT500SE include a Shelby wide body kit, a Shelby Carbon Fiber package, a rear seat delete with harness bar, and Michelin Sport Cup 2 performance tires.
Interior Upgrades
The interior of the 2020 Shelby GT500SE gets exclusive, well-bolstered leather seats with Shelby badging and a dashboard plate with the car's serial number; the engine also gets a similar plaque.

Being among the first fifteen people to order the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Signature Edition comes with some nice perks.
