Turning little ones into Mustang fans

Last month, Lego unveiled a new automotive addition to its Creator line that gives something to pony car fans that appreciate the past. The new kit is a 1967 Mustang GT Fastback that comes with a tiny 390 cubic-inch V8. The kit is comprised of 1,470 pieces that will not only build the Mustang together but will allow you to change the car between nondescript roller to hot rod fantasy car.

Breaking new ground

The kit breaks some new ground for Lego as it features four new elements that have never been used by the company previously. Once the Mustang has been assembled, it stands about four inches in height, six inches wide, and over a foot in length. Included in the kit is a supercharger, front and rear spoilers, tail exhaust or side pipes, and a nitrous oxide tank.

Not the first but definitely the best

This kit is not the first time that Lego has jumped into Mustang territory but this is the first model that has a detailed level of complexity to it. For example, the builder, if they so choose to, can even alter the rear suspension lift for an aggressive mid-'70s muscle car look. Other bits include functional steering, a set of various license plates, five-spoke rims, and bricks for Mustang and GT emblems.

Here's to creativity

Jamie Berard, Design Lead on Lego Creator Expert said that with the Ford Mustang being one of the most iconic, symbolic cars in history and a popular fan-favorite muscle car, it was an exhilarating experience to bring it to life in brick form, with this level of customization. He remarked, “We can’t wait to see our Lego and Ford Mustang fans’ own creations when they get their hands on this new set.”

I kind of want one

The Mustang GT kit went on sale online and in Lego dedicated stores on March 1st at a price of $150 bucks. So, how many of you will buy this for a loved one and then build it yourself under the guise of "helping?"
