Daily Slideshow: Cliched Flares Mustang

I’m not fan of the current “over fender” craze that is sweeping the industry, but when Michael from Clinched Flares emailed me photos of their new product line my jaw hit the floor. Here’s the inside scoop on the kit and the company behind this unbelievable machine.

What makes it special?

Aside from the wild looks and aggressive styling that the Mustang deserves the company’s kits are made out of ABS plastics utilizing CNC-cut molds to ensure a top quality fit and finish. This saves time and money which gets passed onto the consumer. These kits are affordable compared to current market offerings and higher quality.

Body Language

Somehow these guys have taken the factory design and cranked it up to 11. It really does look like a proper blend between a race car and a street car. Few kits achieve this look in a seamless way that blends all of the factory lines while adding to the base of what makes the machine stand out in the first place.

More than just a pretty face

Improving the looks of the Mustang is good, but improving the performance capability of the machine is better. That’s where the guys at Clinched really excel. The kit looks badass and allows for rear tires in excess of 345mm. When it comes to tire width and lap times there is a direct correlation. Stuffing wider rubber results in higher cornering speed making this more than just your run of the mil bolt-on fender kit.

ABS Advantage

Compared to fiberglass the ABS plastic kits are easier to work with and fit correctly. How much easier? Pazi Performance (Clinched Flares’ installation partners in LA area) were able to build 3 cars in 3 days for SEMA. This would have been impossible with other materials. Initial costs may be slightly higher (or lower, depending on the manufacturer), but time and labor saved in the body shop make up for it in spades. Everything fits precisely and easily.

Future Ambition

Clinched Flares has already started to gain traction in the drift world and showcased their first few cars in Vegas earlier this year. With several other offerings other than the S550 Mustang (and they’ve already started work on 2018 Mustangs) the company is on track to take on the likes of Rocket Bunny in the near future. With a kit this good looking that allows improvements in performance it’s hard to see Clinched not having a strangle hold on the market in due time. What are your thoughts about this Mustang? Let us know in the comment section. See you next time!
