Anniversary Mustang

To mark 35 years in business, Hennessey Performance introduced the Super Venom Mustang, a heavily modified version of the S650 Ford Mustang designed as a limited-edition tribute to the company’s history. Production is capped at 35 cars, one for each year since the Texas-based tuner began building high-performance vehicles. The model blends significant power upgrades with cosmetic changes intended to distinguish it from factory Mustangs such as the Dark Horse or other specialty variants.

850-HP Upgrade

At the core of the Super Venom is a supercharged V8 producing 850 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The starting point is the Mustang GT’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, originally rated at roughly 500 horsepower. That output puts the Hennessey-tuned car ahead of several notable Mustang variants.

It exceeds the 815-horsepower rating of the track-focused Ford Mustang GTD and also edges out the roughly 830-horsepower claims associated with the latest Shelby Super Snake. The result is a power increase of about 70 percent compared with the stock Mustang GT.

Aero And Carbon Fiber

Power upgrades are paired with an aerodynamic package known as the VenomAero kit. The carbon-fiber components are intended to improve cooling and stability at higher speeds while also visually separating the Super Venom from standard Mustangs. Visible additions include a front splitter, side skirts, a revised rear deck lid with a lip spoiler, and functional fender louvers. Together with other aerodynamic tweaks, the components aim to improve airflow and high-speed handling.

Because the model commemorates the company’s founding, several design elements reference its history. Each car features “35” fender badges, while a large “91” hood graphic points to 1991, the year the company was established. Exterior graphics with Super Venom branding appear along the body, and the interior receives custom leather and Alcantara trim with Hennessey logos embroidered into the seats.

A Growing Performance Brand

Founder John Hennessey reflected on the company’s growth over three decades. “What started as a love for racing and going fast has turned into something far bigger than I ever imagined,” Hennessey said. “But the fun of building extreme vehicles is still what drives us every day.” Over the past 35 years, the company says it has re-engineered more than 18,000 vehicles for customers worldwide.

Following A Familiar Path

The company’s trajectory often draws comparisons with Carroll Shelby and Shelby American. Both began by modifying existing performance cars before branching into more ambitious projects. Like Shelby, Hennessey built its reputation primarily on high-performance versions of American vehicles, particularly Fords, while also working with a wide range of other manufacturers.

From Tuners To Hypercars

In recent years, the company has expanded beyond tuning production vehicles. Its first fully developed hypercar, the Hennessey Venom F5, was created in collaboration with Delta Motorsport in the United Kingdom and assembled in the United States.

The car is powered by the twin-turbocharged “Fury” 6.6-liter V8 producing more than 1,800 horsepower, while the more extreme Hennessey Venom F5 Evolution pushes output past 2,000 horsepower. Production of the Venom F5 is limited to 24 units and targets record-setting performance.

Looking Ahead

Hennessey continues expanding its operations, including plans to grow its Texas facility to more than 100,000 square feet and bring additional manufacturing processes in-house. The company has also stated long-term goals of increasing vehicle production to roughly 2,000 units annually while continuing development of new high-performance projects.

Within that context, the Super Venom Mustang functions as both a commemorative model and a reminder of the company’s roots, taking an already powerful American muscle car and pushing it further.
