Shelby American's 800 HP Super Snake

New Super Snake

The newest iteration of the ultra-powerful Shelby Mustang was revealed earlier this year. 2018's Super Snake will start life as a base 5.0-liter V8 Mustang before the speed wizards at Shelby get to apply their touch of brilliance to it. The modified muscle cars will be sold at a starting price of $113,445. Customers could choose to have their Super Snakes built in coupe or convertible configuration.

Shelby Power

With the Ford Performance supercharger, the Super Snake will be capable of producing 710 HP. An external cooling element is added to help keep the temperatures low on the massive blower. Other performance upgrades to the drivetrain include performance half shafts, short-throw shifter, one-piece drive shaft for the manual transmission, transmission cooling for the automatic gearbox, as well as Ford Performance exhaust system.

Shelby Aesthetics

A variety of visual and aerodynamic upgrades are made to the base Mustang to turn in into a Super Snake. Up front, the Shelby comes with a redesigned bumper, new grille, hood, and a front splitter. A more sporty set of side skirts are present as well as 20-inch forged aluminum wheels. The rear spoiler, rear bumper, and the diffuser have also received some upgrades. 6-piston brakes at the front and 4-pistons at the rear wheels are sourced by Brembo to take on slowing down the Shelby product.

Signature Interior

On the inside, the traces of Shelby are evident with new floor mats, door sill plates, the instrument cluster, and of course, the dashboard itself, so the driver will have no doubt that they're behind the wheel of a Super Snake.

Options

As for additional options, Shelby customers will be able to order their Super Snake with painted stripes, a wide-body package, a car cover, and a high-performance track suspension. The most important optional upgrade, however, has to be the available Whipple supercharger which bumps the power up to a crazy 800 HP -- in case 710 HP just doesn't do the trick.

Limited Production

Customers will have peace of mind with the standard three-year, 36,000-mile warranty -- the same factory warranty offered with base Mustangs. As expected, the production number on these Angry Super Snakes will be limited. The new Super Snake is yet another product from the legendary brand, and I think it will be a performance machine that Carroll Shelby would be proud of.
