Meant to Be

As the old saying goes, "if you love something, set it free. If it returns, you know it's real." But in reality, this rarely happens, especially when it comes to cars. So you could say that Josh Kennedy's history with this particular teal '93 Mustang Cobra, recently featured over at Hot Rod, is a bit of a rare tale. And clearly, this love was meant to be.

Love Story

Many of us have sold a car only to tell the buyer that if they ever decide to sell it, we should be their first call. Rarely does this ever work, however. But in this case, Kennedy's persistence paid off. It all started when he came across this gorgeous, 12,000 original mile Cobra back in 2014. After a bit of back and forth, Kennedy won the car on eBay after the original buyer backed out.

Moving On

There was just one problem, however. Kennedy was more interested in modifying cars, and he just couldn't bring himself to mess with this collector-grade Cobra. Thus, it sat in storage for a couple of years. He only put 200 miles on the car over that time period, and soon got the itch to buy something he could tinker with. So he soon sold the Cobra, making a deal with the buyer to keep in touch.

Coming Back

Kennedy went to work trying to find a rougher '93 Cobra but had little luck after two years of searching. But he soon learned that the owner of his old car was thinking about selling it. The two soon struck a deal, and the car was right back in Kennedy's garage. And this time around, he was less gun shy about modifying it, though he is also careful not to do anything that can't be reversed.

Upgraded Sound

In the rear hatch, you'll find a custom JL Audio setup contained within a custom-built box that's been integrated into the hatch floor. This smart use of space offers up premium sound for the older ride and can be easily removed if Kennedy ever feels like returning the car to stock.

Few Mods

On the inside, Kennedy spruced things up a bit with an LMR cupholder console to make room for some morning coffee, a 2003 Cobra shift knob, a matching leather shifter, and e-brake boots. Under the hood, you'll find a polished Vortech V-3 Si Heritage series supercharger. And to cap it all off, Kennedy threw on a set of Weld RT-S wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Permanent Reunion

Modest changes, of course, but nobody wants to ruin a teal '93 Cobra, of which just 1,355 were produced. And these changes also ensure that this Mustang will remain in Kennedy's collection for years to come. After all, it's hard enough to reunite with an old flame once. Doing it again, well, that's nearly impossible!
