The New Mustang is LOUD, But a Mute Button is Optional

We all want a loud, rip snorting Mustang, but not when you have to start the car in the middle of our quiet neighborhood late at night or early in the AM. Fortunately, Ford knows the struggle, which is why they offer a Quiet Start feature.

1. Revamped Mustang

The Ford Mustang is receiving upgrades for the 2018 model year. One of the biggest changes for the new year is the 10-speed Select-Shift Automatic transmission, and new control programming which offers a much more responsive throttle, plus available MagneRide adaptive damping, and electronic line-lock.

2. Exhaust Roar

For the Mustang GT fans, the 5.0-liter V-8 engine provides an exhaust note that is just as vicious as its performance. With an engine that develops 455-horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, the GT can hit 60 mph from a standing position in just 4.0-seconds. With your foot down, expect a monstrous roar coming from the quad-tip active exhaust sound, which sounds absolutely ferocious. You may like that noise from behind the wheel, but what about your neighbors?

3. Good Neighbor Mode

Ford decided to let customers enjoy roaring exhaust notes from their exhausts, while being able to silent it and be good neighbors. The Quiet-Start, also known as Good Neighbor Mode, allows the GT driver to program the tuned exhaust system so the sound is significantly reduced during the engine start process. This feature will be part of an optional active valve performance exhaust system, which offers more power and noise when the bypasses are activated. Aside from the Quiet Start mode, the system will have three exhaust setting that the drivers can choose from: Normal, Sport, and Track Exhaust settings. Visit your local dealer and insist on trying them all.

4. Updated retro Look

Perhaps the most talked-about news is the new retro-look of the 2018 Mustang. The 2018 models will feature a longer hood to emulate the look of the classic Mustang, as well as a tri-bar pony badge on the rear. The Pony Package will also come with 19-inch wheels, chrome window trim, and a classic grille that will bring back memories.

5. Price and Release Date

The new Mustang GT is the very Ford first vehicle to receive the unique Quiet-Start feature. The highly anticipated 2018 Ford Mustang GT is set to hit the market by early October of this year, and if you're wondering how much it will cost to be a courteous neighbor with a car that develops 435-horsepower, the GT will come with a starting price tag of $35,995 for the hardtop coupe, but the optional active exhaust has not been priced yet.
